At the Canton Fair 1978 Autumn session, a "green storm" from Fujian swept across Japan. In 1979, the company signed its first oolong tea contract with Japanese clients. Based on the product quality and diversified means of promotion, Fujian Tea Imp.&Exp. Co., Ltd. joined hands with Japanese distributors to ignite the first boom of oolong tea in Japanese market.

In 1984, ready-to-drink canned oolong tea triggered another wave of oolong tea’s popularity, which lasted for over a decade. Fujian oolong tea became a well-known daily beverage among Japanese households, rewriting the history of oolong tea being only sold to overseas Chinese communities.

As an endorsement to the quality and safety of the products, the slogan "100% use of Fujian Oolong Tea Recommended by Fujian Tea Import & Export Co., Ltd." was printed on the Japanese tea beverage packages.

Since 2002, an annual meeting regarding “Tea Safety”has been regularly held every March. Meanwhile, through training sessions, the company updates the new standards on pesticide residues in importing countries for raw material suppliers and tea farmers, to safeguard the controllable sourcing, traceable process and quality assured. The Japanese strategic clients were invited to attend the meetings for multiple times, working together to provide consumers with safe and reliable products.

For a long time, China Tea(Fujian) has been highly recognized in the Japanese market by its high quality product, with oolong tea and jasmine tea consistently maintaining strong market share.
