In 2001, China Tea(Longguan) turned its attention to Qiandao Lake located in Chun'an county, taking root in this ecological fertile land. Surrounded by verdant mountains and clear waters, with pure soil and fresh air, the region provides an exceptional natural environment for the cultivation of Longguan tea .

In Longguan’s tea gardens in Qiandao Lake, the company adheres to ecological cultivation by strictly limiting the use of pesticides and fertilizers while fully promoting green pest-control technologies. The tea garden has thus become a natural oxygen bar, and offer irreplaceable quality natural environment for tea growth, ensuring the key quality of “green, organic, and healthy”of its tea product. Consequently, Qiandao Lake has been regarded as the core producing origin of Longguan tea.

A Green Commitment to China’s “Dual-Carbon” Goals

Guided by China’s “dual-carbon” goals, China Tea(Longguan) has taken proactive measures to reduce carbon emissions. Through the development of ecological low-carbon tea gardens, annual CO₂sequestration inside the tea garden and its surroundings reaches 6.4 t/hm² and 2.5 t/hm² respectively, with a total of 8.9 t/hm² yearly, generating remarkable ecological benefits in terms of emission reduction from carbon sequestration.

China Tea(Longguan) has been striving to minimize environmental pollution and resource consumption through continuous use of organic fertilizers, constantly improving its production process, introducing advanced equipment, as well as adopting clean power. Supported by ongoing green pest-control, pest management has shifted from traditional chemical medicine method to ecological approach, effectively mitigating pest populations. Additionally, in the combination of traditional tea garden agronomic management and IoT technology, they set up an intelligent management platform for ecological low-carbon tea gardens, which enhance the overall management, intelligent supervision, safety control, and data analysis of tea gardens, from aspects such as tea garden management and zoning, visualization of IoT devices and data analysis, and normalized, standardized data integration. In 2022, the Chun'an Qiandao Lake Tea Factory became the first verified enterprise nationwide on ecological low-carbon tea. Its management system was selected as a national exemplary “dual-carbon” case, standing as the benchmark in the agricultural sector.

While offering a cup of good tea, China Tea(Longguan) has also been playing its part in driving global carbon reduction, embodying its significant responsibility and key role in the greening of tea industry.

Inheriting Tradition

As a “Hangzhou Time-Honored Company,” Longguan tea carries profound historical and cultural heritage. From the establishment of the state-owned Hangzhou Longjing tea factory in 1950 to its evolution into a shining name under China Tea, Longguan has always been pursuing innovation without losing inheritance, and development driven by innovation.

Following the production methods of modern industrial products, China Tea(Longguan) has split the traditional hand pan-frying craft of Longjing tea into 26 processing steps, and 12 quality-control procedures, using standardized process to safeguard the stability of tea quality. This allows a seamless combination of traditionally handcrafted techniques and modern industrial production, upholding green quality in large-scale production. China Tea(Longguan) has also established a fingerprint profile of the key compounds that define Longjing tea’s quality, which provide scientific insight into how tea quality is formed, and mark a shift from sensory assessment to data-driven evaluation, laying a solid foundation for continuous quality improvement.

In addition, GABA Green Tea, jointly developed by China Tea(Longguan) and TRI, CAAS, significantly increase the content level of GABA through a physical anaerobic process.  Empowered by technology, each cup of GABA green tea brings tea drinkers a better lifestyle. 

China Tea(Longguan) also actively promotes “origin-based immersive tour”, transforming tea gardens into quality education practice bases for primary and secondary school students. This allows more people to enter green tea gardens, and learn about ecological tea-making. While spreading traditional tea culture, it deeply promotes the concept of "green consumption and healthy living".
